The aim of post operative evaluation is to oversee the recovery from surgery and secondarily the psycho-social adjustment and cosmetic result following surgery. This will incorporate clinical psychology and surgical followup.

  • Post surgery - seen by psychiatrists and surgeons briefly in hospital and immediately post discharge (if required).

  • Post operative appointments with the Surgeons after discharge.

  • Four weeks post operative - full psychiatric review (if required).

  • Three months - psychiatric and psychosocial review (if required).

  • Three months - followup by the Surgeons.

  • Social worker assessment within first six months for patients within the Christchurch area (if required).

  • Psychometric testing facilities post operative should be available.

  • One year followup by Psychiatrists.

  • One year followup by Surgeons.
